Reading Tutor Trainees Wanted
No Sales Required! Just a passion for helping others improve their reading skills? Do you have a talent for teaching and a love of language? If so, we’re looking for you!
We are currently seeking tutoring trainees to join our team and help students of all ages raise their reading skills. Bristol Standard’s tutoring program/method, called Reading On Rails™, moves reading students forward 6 to 8 times faster than standard school programs (even without tutoring). This efficiency also shows up in other learning statistics. For one thing, you’ll be able to help students with lower reading aptitudes, including adults who are anxious to try again but wary of weak reading programs. Newly enrolled elementary students are guaranteed to reach a late third-grade decoding level within just 120 hours of tutoring.
Working with students one-on-one has many advantages: It reduces attention and behavioral problems. High aptitude students are no longer held back by their peers. You’ll be able to customize lessons to precise individual needs. The tutoring environment allows relationships based on mutual respect and measurable progress. The Reading On Rails™ program holds the attention of distractible children far better than typical programs—even in reading groups.
Bristol Standard tutors aim to avoid correcting students by preventing errors, even giving away answers (if prudent). They use precisely leveled instruction. They flag curriculum deficiencies for examination and abolition. You can help us bring our twin philosophies of continuous improvement and using evidence-based instruction to schools and communities all over Georgia while working from home! Choose from a huge buffet of tested exercises without rummaging through the internet, hoping to get lucky.
Most of your students will be decoding on a late third grade level within 60 to 99 hours. Your high aptitude students will reach that skill level in 36 to 56 hours. Your part time work may eventually lead to Reading On Rails™ certification and full time work—earning a high government salary—in a school where the staff knows they’re lucky to have you.
You’ll enjoy flexible hours, good support, competitive pay, and the satisfaction of seeing the rising scores of your students. Training is free—and you’ll be earning tutoring fees within a few hours (during supervised sessions with your new students). You should already have a fairly solid grasp of phonics, but degrees are not necessary, since you will soon know English spelling patterns backwards and forwards. Former teachers, including retirees, are welcome.
